Mission

The TGF acts as a national one-stop shop for the mobilisation, centralisation, management and allocation of resources intended, in particular, to fund measures to protect the environment and combat climate change.

As such, he is responsible in particular for:

• Develop collaboratively the legal and strategic tools for resource mobilization and optimal funding of activities and/or projects in favor of the environment and climate;
• Support the process of reducing greenhouse gas emissions;
• Prospecting, mobilizing, and managing national and international financial resources intended for the sustainable management of the environment and climate;
• Support the implementation of programs and projects related to environmental protection, coastal protection, sustainable management of forests and natural resources, combating the harmful effects of climate change, and improving people's living conditions and well-being;
• Supporting the implementation of national public policies, as well as initiatives from local authorities, the private sector, civil society, and research institutions, in terms of the environment and climate change;
• Contribute to promoting sustainable transportation and the use of renewable energy;
• Track and assess the use of the resources provided, their impacts on the environment and communities, with the goal of strengthening their resilience ;
• Set up a framework for ongoing consultation with national and international development partners involved in funding measures for the environment and climate;
• Strengthen and develop the institutional and operational capacities of national partners in the areas of environment, natural resources, coastal protection, climate change mitigation, as well as in the prospecting and mobilization of national and international financial resources;
• Promote public-private partnerships in favor of environmental protection and fighting climate change;
• Make it easier to access carbon market financing mechanisms.
