COP31: Togo is actively preparing for its participation in COP31 in Antalya (Türkiye) spearheaded by the CPO-TGF and supported by Technical and Financial Partners (TFPs) and the private sector.

As part of preparations for Togo’s participation in COP31, scheduled for November 9–20, 2026, the Prefiguration and Operationalization Unit of the TOGO GREEN FUND (CPO-TGF) has initiated a series of consultations with Technical and Financial Partners (TFPs). Since the initial meeting held on August 6, 2026, in Lomé, organized by the COP Action Committee and chaired by TGF Coordinator Dr. Gbétey Kokouvi AKPAMOU, which resulted in the validation of the roadmap for Togo’s COP31 participation, several commitments to support the Togolese delegation have been secured from various sources. These include the UNDP, the World Bank, the FAO, the BOAD, the Togo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI TOGO), LuxDev, and GIZ.

The most recent development involves technical assistance from Do Well Do Good (DWDG), an international strategy and advisory firm, to support the TGF. The activities conducted on September 11 and 14, 2026, are being carried out in collaboration with teams from the Ministry in charge of Combating Climate Change and with the involvement of the Presidential Unit for Monitoring and Execution of Priority Projects (CPES). This support focuses specifically on the strategic preparation for Togo’s participation in COP31 by enhancing the visibility of the TOGO GREEN FUND and promoting the national green investment portfolio.

Discussions focused on selecting projects to present at COP31, developing partnerships through bilateral meetings with financial institutions, technical and financial partners, and investors, as well as exchanging experiences with other countries developing innovative climate finance mechanisms, particularly carbon markets. Plans are also in place to co-organize events with partner institutions at COP31. In this context, the CPO-TGF agreed with the BOAD to co-organize an event dedicated to the TOGO GREEN FUND and green investment opportunities in Togo. This event will be co-organized with the BIDC, the AfDB, and other entities to be mobilized around green finance and implementation instruments.

This initiative is part of the process of progressively operationalizing the TOGO GREEN FUND and aims to leverage COP31 to increase the mechanism's visibility, promote green investment opportunities in Togo, and strengthen a network of partners to mobilize climate resources.

Work is continuing in collaboration with the Directorate for Combating Climate Change to effectively prepare for Togo's participation in COP31.
